New York Police Chief Keechant Sewell told reporters there was no indication of an act of terror or whether the perpetrator was doing it intentionally. Police first stopped the perpetrator at around 10:50 a.m. local time in the Bay Ridge area after he hit a number of people.

However, the perpetrator then fled and bumped into a number of other people before being stopped and arrested.
Seven civilians and a policeman were injured in the incident. Two people are reported to be in critical condition.
“We still have very limited information on the perpetrator at this time,” Sewell said, saying police were conducting an investigation. (AFP/OL-1)
