Apple is reportedly planning to launch a MacBook Air with a 15-inch jumbo screen this year. This variant has been much heralded over the last few times.
In a report focusing on Apple’s latest mixed-reality device, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman mentions a possible 15-inch MacBook Air might be released.
According to insiders, the MacBook Air will be one of the prima donnas released by Apple this year. However, he did not disclose further details about the relief screen MacBook Air.
On the one hand, Apple is unlikely to launch the 12-inch MacBook Air, the laptop model that has also appeared in recent reports.
Gurman said in his Power On newsletter that the updated MacBook Pro will come in 14-inch and 16-inch sizes, the same as the 2021 model. Apple will also feature the same design as the current Pro.
“The 15-inch MacBook Air may be the only savior for this year’s Mac lineup,” said Gurman, quoted from BGR, Tuesday (10/1/2023).
Apple updated last year’s MacBook Air with a new design and the latest M2 chip. The MacBook Air 2022 has a screen with a notch at the top, just like the MacBook Pro models. The screen measures 13.6 inches, slightly larger than the 13.3-inch screen on previous MacBook Air models.
The 15-inch MacBook Air should have a similar design, as Apple isn’t likely to roll out any significant design changes anytime soon. However, a larger laptop screen should be enough to “sell” to users who need a wide screen.
As MacRumors reports, Apple may be using a 15.5-inch display panel for the new MacBook Air. Manufacturing of the 15.5-inch screen is said to start in the first quarter of 2023.
Separately, a tipster LeaksApplePro said that Apple may launch three Macs in March. The 15-inch MacBook Air could be one of them.
